Conflict Analysis and Resolution. | The world is becoming increasingly connected and the ability to create and maintain cross-cultural connections is more important than ever. As the effects of violence and conflict are felt throughout the global community, we are seeing more and more opportunities for collaboration, problem solving, and peacebuilding in local communities and across international barriers. To prepare our students to make cross-cultural connections, Bachelor's of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Resolution students must demonstrate intermediate level proficiency in a foreign language.
Cultural and Natural Resources | Jobs in the Historical Resources and Museum families are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the preservation and display of the State’s historical, scientific, archeological, or natural artifacts, documentation, and resources. Jobs in the Library family provide library services to a state facility or institution and program support to libraries in cities and counties. Jobs in the Park Operations family manage, maintain, and protect state parks and facilities.
Educator, Trainer, or Dialogue Facilitator. | The main function of the educator, trainer, or dialogue facilitator is to help facilitate peaceful resolutions in conflicts and disputes, whether in classrooms, local communities, international organizations, or government agencies.
Florida Park Rangers | There are 175 Florida state parks, trails and historic sites encompassing nearly 800,000 acres of our state’s lands. Locations range from Pensacola to Jacksonville and south to Naples and Key West, meaning that no matter where you live, you’re within an hour of a state park. Our parks are as diverse as the people who live here, offering a wide range of experiences to suit the needs of every Floridian. More than 1,000 people work in full-time positions at our state parks, while thousands more work seasonally. We have both part-time and full-time positions, meaning even those with a tight schedule can work at a state park. Park rangers often move on to other positions in the environmental profession, and your experiences in the field provide a vital foundation as you move both within and outside the Florida Park Service. Humanitarian Aid Worker. | Humanitarian aid workers are dedicated professionals who assist in conflict zones, regions affected by natural disasters, and areas experiencing humanitarian crises. They are vital in delivering emergency relief, coordinating humanitarian efforts, and contributing to the long-term recovery and resilience of community facing adversity.
Nonprofit Program Manager. | The Nonprofit Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing organizations dedicated to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social justice. In this historical moment, where conflicts are playing out in political arenas and affecting different social strata, the role of a manager and mediator is essential, especially when the goal is to achieve peace, positive relationships, and opportunities that prevent war.
Social Inequalities. | This course examines the structure of social stratification in the U.S. from various perspectives and from micro- and macro-levels of analysis. This course is based on the seven statuses (race, social class, gender, physical/mental ability, religion, sexual orientation and age) that most significantly determine who gets what in American society. Historical and contemporary examples highlighted in readings and discussion range from medicine, law, education, the family, the military, housing, food security, and other.
